This intriguing biography captures her energy, close family ties, and the heartbreak of loss and unfulfilled love. Humorous anecdotes and details of a lifetime were recounted to the author Adrienne Howley who nursed Miss Mackellar for many years. Her comprehensive collection of photographs shows the handsome Mackellar family and their magnificent homes in Sydney and the country.

The foreword is by Beverley Kingston, one of Australia’s most prominent historians of women and women’s work. The illustrations are the work of Tamworth artist, Jean Isherwood. This magnificent watercolour series to accompany ‘My Country’ is exhibited at the Gunnedah Creative Arts Centre.
