Born to wealth and privilege in Sydney in 1885, Dorothea Mackellar had talent, beauty, a loving family and more freedom than most women of her time. During her long life, she saw the motor vehicle replace the horse and buggy, and experienced two world wars.
This intriguing biography captures her energy, close family ties, and the heartbreak of loss and unfulfilled love. Humorous anecdotes and details of a lifetime were recounted to the author Adrienne Howley who nursed Miss Mackellar for many years. Her comprehensive collection of photographs shows the handsome Mackellar family and their magnificent homes in Sydney and the country.
