2011 Winners Announced
There was outstanding poetry submitted among the 8300 entries from nearly 800 schools. The winners were:

2011 Presentation Ceremony
The 2011 awards presentation ceremony was a colourful blend of poetry and pictures.
Guest speaker was Armidale-based watercolourist James White who painted each winning poem and later explained it to the audience.
Winners and their families travelled from as far as Tasmania to attend the ceremony on Friday, September 2.
Judges Joanne Horniman and Sally Murphy presented the awards and praised the standard of entries, which numbered more than 8200 this year.
Then, before a capacity crowd at Gunnedah’s Civic Theatre, the musical ensemble Ilythian consisting of a violinist and fire artist, soprano and pianist performed the work of composer Chloe Charody.
The Senior Secondary winner, Hrishikesh Srinivas, Sydney Grammar School, could not attend the ceremony on the day and his award was presented by Senator Thistlethwaite.
2011 Schools' Award was won by Redeemer Baptist School and presented in Gunnedah to the principal Jonathan Cannon. The school's outstanding effort in teaching poetry and high quality of entries has impressed the judges.
Holy Spirit College, Bellambi - received 2011 Schools' Award runner up prize presented by Mr Peter Turner from the Catholic Education Office and Ms Sharon Bird, Federal Member for Cunningham.
Winner of Community Relations Commission Award, Chantelle Tran, Prairiewood High School, received her trophy at the Parliament House, presented by the Minister for Citizenship and Communities, The Hon Victor Dominello MP.
Poetry Workshops, September 2011
On 1st September both judges of the Awards, Sally Murphy and Joanne Horniman, delivered poetry workshops in primary and secondary schools in the Gunnedah area.
