One week until 2017 Poetry Awards Closes

Students around Australia are sharpening their pencils for the last week of the 2017 Dorothea Mackellar Poetry Awards.

Entries for the 2017 Awards are accepted until the 30th of June, and Project Officer Ruth Macaulay is expecting a surge of last minute entries in the final week.

"There are still many schools who are registered but haven't uploaded their poems yet, so I'm confident that we'll hit our goal of 10,000 entries."

The optional theme for the 2017 competition is "All Over the World", and Ruth has been impressed with all the entries so far. "It's been so amazing to see how the students have interpreted the theme. Kids are so creative, and the poems are of a very high standard."
